Werner Thiele, born in Tyrol Austria, started diving when he was 18 years old and became youngest professional diving instructor in Austria. At 22 years old he started taking pictures under water as proof of his tremendous adventures for his friends and relations After winning more than 200 international photo competitions he became CMAS world champion in wideangle underwater photography in 2005. In 2009 he was international judge in Korea for the CMAS underwater photography world championship and today he is member of the CMAS visual commision.


Liveaboard safaris hosted by Werner are also available in 2015 – 2016 to a wide variety of Siren Fleet destinations, including Truk Lagoon, Fiji, Komodo, Palau, Philippines, Banda Sea & Ambon and the Maldives.

He took his first underwater pictures aged nine, has had his images widely published and has won firstprizes in both the prestigious Festival Mondial de L’Image Sous Marine in Antibes and the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the year competition. His main diving interest is observing and photographing the everyday behaviour of marine life, something that many divers miss. Alex is the digital officer of the British Society of Underwater Photographers and co-administrator of the digital photography website Wetpixel. Alex’s latest book, ‘The Art of Diving’ (2006) was written in conjunction with Nick Hanna.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate underwater photographer and learn more about shark conservation during a 10-night liveaboard trip in the Fiji, taking the Lomaiviti & Taveuni Islands itinerary from Viti Levu. The trip encompasses diving the Namena Reserve, Somosomo Strait, Savusavu and the Nigali Passage. Divers can expect big fish and stunning corals – perfect for those wide-angle shots but with also plenty of smaller creatures for macro too
Talks and workshops will be conducted in German, however if there is also demand for English, we will arrange that also.
