Great trip on board the Fiji Siren Liveaboard with an amazing group of divers!

A big welcome to all of the new guests of the Fiji Siren Liveaboard! We had a quite varied group of individuals from all over the world! China, United States, Germany, Austria, Australia and even a past crew member from one of the other boats in the fleet!
There were some great dives to the Amazing Maze and the wreck of the Ovalau II on the first day out at Nananu-I-Ra. We dove Neptune’s Rhapsody, Golden Crown and Latta’s Home for day two. Golden Crown featured nice golden soft corals littering the edges of the bommie and Neptune’s having more small schooling fish and more varied colour.

Great underwater action and fun on board the Fiji Siren Liveaboard

Great underwater action and fun on board the Fiji Siren Liveaboard

With the biggest welcome the Fiji Siren liveaboard could muster, we gave a BIG BULA to Gabe and his whole team from Ocean Safari in Las Angeles, USA. Even though they are all from Ocean Safari everyone was from far afield. We had Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, Canadian, Korean, and a few from the States itself. A very good mix that seemed to work really well with most people knowing each other before hand

Fantantic dives and fantastic group!

Fantantic dives and fantastic group!

As always t is great to welcome our new guests aboard the Fiji Siren Liveaboard. To kick things off on a good note we had the band up on the side singing the welcoming song of Fiji.
We decided on staying anchored near one of the bigger island for the night before moving out to the Vatu-I-Ra. We had one day’s diving planned out in the Bligh Waters before we carried on to Gau and the Nigali Passage. The first sites we dropped into were amazing. We had Maytag and Mellow Yellow set out and the visibility couldn’t have been better. There was light current but still enough to have all the fish out and about.

The crew of the Fiji Siren Liveaboard stood on the dive deck singing the welcome song of the Fijian people to welcome our new guests eager to for the trip to begin.
First stop, Makogai where we did 4 dives at various sites, each having their own unique life from leaf fish to electric file clams and each having many many anthias swimming around the top. We even spotted a juvenile rock-mover wrasse at Dominoes.

Great dives and great fun on board the Fiji Siren Liveaboard: incredible macro, great pelagics and colorful corals!

Great dives and great fun on board the Fiji Siren Liveaboard: incredible macro, great pelagics and colorful corals!

A great big bula welcome to the Dive Team from Channel Islands Scuba in California who will be our well pampered guests for the next 7-nights. After a fun but thorough boat and safety briefing it was ‘anchor-up’ with our course set straight for the Namena Marine Reserve, some 10-hours away, and what an ideal location to kick-off the first 2-days of diving. To commence proceedings on a high note we were fortunate enough to be escorted through the Bligh Waters by a large pod of Pilot Whales just prior to sunset – let’s hope this is a sign of things to come.

Joseph Tepper wide angle workshop on board the Fiji Siren Liveaboard

Taking the plunge into The Amazing Maze late on the first afternoon aboard the S/Y Fiji Siren were five eager divers not wanting to miss any chance they could get to have a go at the Fijian underwater world. This cruise we have Joseph Tepper with us running one of his wide angled workshops for a couple of guests. He would be making multiple presentations throughout this 10 cruise, the first being with Michael on the long journey from Vatu-I-Ra to the island of Gau.

Amazing trip on board the Fiji Siren: plenty of sharks, school of fish and great macro!

The Fiji Siren was back again on the water for a 7 night liveaboard trip with this time a whole team of people from Thailand. We had the duo of ‘O’ and Debbie return to us for their second trip aboard the S/Y Fiji Siren. We also had a few people form the United States, the UK and one gentleman from Germany. On the day of embarkation, we decided we would enter into the water for a late afternoon dive as the checkout dive for most of the boat to Amazing Maze. About half of the boat decided this was a good time to go and the other decided they would like to settle in for the night with a glass of wine or a beer or two.

Amazing Fiji liveaboard adventure on board the Fiji Siren with our friends from Equator Diving

Amazing Fiji liveaboard adventure on board the Fiji Siren with our friends from Equator Diving

In late May 2015 we travelled to Fiji for our group trip on SY Fiji Siren Liveaboard. Joining us on this trip were guests from the UK, Ireland, US and Hong Kong, and as Fiji lies in the middle of the Pacific Ocean our guests used various routes to reach Fiji. Some went via Hong Kong, some via Los Angeles, and others via Australia or New Zealand. So by the time our guests reached Fiji there were already lots of tales to tell! Fiji Siren trips start and finish at Volivoli Resort which lies on the doorstep of the excellent dives sites of Bligh Water and some guests took the opportunity to arrive early and spend a few nights at the resort. Volivoli Resort also offers a spectacular location to board the Fiji Siren and taking the short ride from the resort’s beach to the Fiji Siren you quickly realise you’re in paradise! Once onboard the Siren we completed an afternoon check dive and then after a great dinner it was time to go to bed ready for the next days diving!

Sharks, mantas, pygmy sea horses and to finish with… a hammerhead! This is Fiji!

With the crew ready and waiting we boarded our next group of divers aboard the S/Y Fiji Siren. This time around we have a very good mix of people with four American from Hawaii, one solo German, three divers from Denmark and three from Australia. To start of this trip we jumped straight into the water for a quick check out dive at Bula Maker. We would be spending our first day diving around the Volivoli area to some of the great sites we have here in the Bligh Waters. This proved to be a grand idea as we saw a manta ray swimming by with a brief stop to say hello to one of the groups along with black tip, white tip and grey reef sharks galore, adding this to the already spectacular multi colored soft corals blooming in the current. Some of the sites we dove were Dream Maker and Breath Taker. Having such a great dive to start us off really set the precedent for the whole week.

Incredible dives on board the Fiji Siren

Incredible dives on board the Fiji Siren

The Fiji Siren and her crew welcomed on board a group of divers from the UK all ready and excited to dive Fiji A leisurely shake-down dive at Bula Maker to kick things off was the order of the afternoon to help our new UK friends feel safe and comfortable after their travels from the other side of the globe. Our first night on-board their new floating home was a nice fun and relaxing affair with everyone getting to know each other, lots of dive talk, even more laughing and great tales, a few beautiful wines and I think we can comfortably say that the ‘stage is set’ for another remarkable 10-night cruise.
