We saw non less than a whale shark in Komodo!
The Indo Siren was ready for the last liveaboard dive trip in Komodo of the season!. After a quick orientation there was plenty of time to settle and start chatting. We had many old Siren Fleet friends as well as a Sonja and Charly who were celebrating their honeymoon with us!
Early morning we started moving to Sangeang, a volcano island. This week we started with Hot Rocks and Deep Purple: ribbon eels, leaf scorpion fish, seahorses, stunning coral in contrast to black sand and bubbles coming out of the reef. Just to mention a few! 🙂 In the afternoon, we kept moving to Gili Banta and dove K2! For the night dive we had frog fish, stargazer, nudibranchs, scorpion leaf fish and many other things were discovered that day.
The next day, Big Nose offered us pigmy seahorses as well as manta rays, black tip reef sharks and a stunning wall/ slop combination. The second dive at Coral Garden was a relaxing dive with frog fish, turtles and amazing coral reef. In the afternoon, it was time for Shotgun where this time the current was mild and brought us big schools of fish and 6 eagle rays!
Next on our diving schedule was Gili Lawa Laut and Darat. Castle Rock, Crystal Rock and Golden Passage were the dive sites of the day. Clear and warm blue waters with a fish soup of giant trevally, bluefin trevally, sweet lips, fusiliers, and sharks made the eyes glowing of our guests. Some of us even saw a whale shark and some mantas!!!! Just incredible!
Now it was time to go to Current City where we started with Batu Bolong. This is definitely one of my personal favorites! 1000 of anthias combined with outstanding reefs, sharks, turtles and manta rays. At Makassar Reef, we had a 60 minute dive with approximatly 20 + mantas feeing, cleaning and chasing each other! After such a wonderful dive, we had a nice gentle walk in Komodo National Park to see the Komodo dragons. For the night dive, we stayed at Pink Bay which offered hairy frog fish, bobtail squid, sea cucumbers, cuttle fish and many other night creatures.
Next morning, we moved south of Komodo to Manta Alley where we did 3 dives with many manta rays, some reef sharks and turtles. For the night dive, we moved over to Nusa Code and dived Cannibal Bay. Bobbit worms, torpedo rays, cuttlefish, squids, coconut octopus, seahorse and much more made that night dive superb.
Still in Nusa Code, we dived Cannibal Rock and Yellow Wall. The rich reefs of that area are special and offer from lady bugs to schooling fish, manta rays and sharks everywhere. This time we left Nusa Kode early to move back to warmer waters. We shortly stopped at Padar for Secret Garden where we encountered 5 giant frog fish, mobula rays, cuttlefish.
Back to Current City, we dived at Batu Bolong and Tatawa Besar where our Fiji Siren guests came back with happy faces! Big schools of fish, sharks, mantas, turtles and reef fish everywhere!
Upon our guests, for the last full day of diving in Komodo, we dived around Gili Lawa Laut. Shotgun, Castle Rock and Crystal Rock were on the menu where we found manta rays, eagle rays, mobulas, grey reef and white tip sharks in a good fish soup!
We still had 2 dives left before finishing this great liveaboard dive trip and Sebayur Kecil and Tatawa besar were chosen! What a great decision as we had many Mantas, 1000 of fish and sharks, just to mention a few!
Thank you everyone for such an incredible diving cruise full of surprises!!!
